Sunday puzzle extra: paint by numbers
This puzzle type is known by various names. In The Netherlands the common name is Japanese Puzzle, international names are Hanjie, Paint by Numbers, Nonogram, Griddlers or Pic-a-Pix.
Cells in the grid must be blackened or left blank according to numbers at the side of the grid to reveal a hidden picture. In this puzzle type, the numbers are a form of discrete tomography that measures how many unbroken lines of filled-in squares there are in any given row or column. For example, a clue of 2-4-5 means that a set of two, four and five squares have to be filled, in that order, with at least one blank square between successive groups.
This puzzel is made for Bert Eendebak, who celebrates his 75th birthday today.
